Exploring New Territory. Discovering New Sides of Myself.
I know where I am now is not where I am going to be in 6 months, 1 year, even 2 years.
Hello, my name is Michelle Dowzer and I am the Community Manager at New Territory! I’m responsible for creating digital content and marketing. I build bonds between Canadian businesses.
One big thing you should know about me is: I love exploring.
I’m a book lover who is running out of space in my home to hold more books. (It’s a problem. A great problem, but a problem nevertheless.) Even with the storage space situation – I love exploring indie and used bookstores. While exploring Ontario, I’ll always try to seek out new bookstores or small businesses.
I’ll always be interested to chat with you about the books you’re currently reading, or with any sort of recommendation. I love adding books to my wishlist, and love giving recommendations too.
I’ve always loved books since I was a child. Reading has been a favourite pastime of mine, and I love being able to escape into a fictional world. My thirst for knowledge is unquenchable, and books have given me that opportunity to gain more knowledge.
Besides exploring the fictional worlds, I love exploring Ontario with my friends. We enjoy spending the weekend exploring different areas of Ontario. Before we get to the destination, I’m preparing myself to see what small businesses are a must to check out.
Exploring new spaces isn’t easy, but I believe it makes me a better problem solver, and thinking outside of the status quo. I am innovative and creative with my thinking. This will help create digital content for New Territory.
My strong collaborative and organizational skills have flourished during my trips because my friends and I still chat about our fond memories over 4 years ago after those trips. I have been able to create strong connections with my friends.
During my life I’ve had to be resilient, adaptable, and look for new opportunities. I didn’t have the most stable childhood – I moved very often, and cannot remember the amount of schools I ended up attending, but due to that, my appetite for exploring, and the skills those experiences brought me has made me who I am today, and how I know I’ll evolve with New Territory.
When I was introduced to New Territory, I was blown away by the work they were doing. Small businesses have a close place in my heart, and the work that New Territory does, brings both of those passions together. I needed to be a part of it. Not only is the work brilliant, but the people in the team are as well.
I know where I am now is not where I am going to be in 6 months, 1 year, even 2 years. That gives me excitement over who I will be in the future. It is an exploration of growth and I am very excited. Exploring is part of life, and with New Territory, that is part of the process.
